Story
Hello everyone!!
Some of you will know that earlier this year my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. For months I felt like I was holding my breath, praying and hoping that she would be ok and thankfully a couple of weeks ago things turned for the better.
Mum had no symptoms or any reasons to think she had cancer. It was only when she had a routine mammogram that the doctors found something they were not happy with. They picked this up so early that although she had to have an operation and radiotherapy, there was no need for chemotherapy. Even without this, it was still a long, worrying and painful process.
I have always wanted to run a marathon as one of my goals in life. When we found out about mum's cancer, my world stopped for days. Sounds cheesy I know, but when something like that happens in your life nothing else matters. I made a promise to myself that if mum got better I would run the marathon, not only for my goal but for my mum and a charity that helps research this terrible disease. Without that mammogram, mum's cancer would have continued to grow without her knowing and perhaps her treatment would not have been so successful, or it may have even been too late for any treatment to work.
On Sunday April 10th 2011, I will be running the Brighton marathon for Breast Cancer Campaign. This charity funds research into this disease to improve diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.
Please, please, please dig deep to support me and this charity and donate as much as you can. I'm peeing myself at the thought of this race! The furthest I have ever run is half-marathon distance so to have a lot of support and donations will make me feel so much better!!
Hopefully you are still reading so thank you so much for taking the time to look at my page and hopefully donate. Feel free to take the mic in my attempts at running this crazy distance, or come to Brighton on the day to watch!!
Thanks again everyone xx
