Story
On 23rd April 2023, I will take to the streets of our capital, with my running buddy and great friend Vicky, to complete the iconic London Marathon. I am not going to lie, I am petrified and excited in equal measures. We are running to support a wonderful charity, Helen & Douglas House, but also in memory of Begona and Neve. We are hoping they will be watching down on us, willing us round and cheering us on!
About Begona and Neve
Begona was simply wonderful, a loving wife to Arturo, mummy to three beautiful children (Marc, Emma and Eric) and one of life's beautiful souls. Sadly, on February 6th 2022, at the age of 43, she passed away, after a short and fiercely fought battle with cancer. It was truly heart-breaking for all that knew her. For me, I needed to do something positive, something I could do in her memory. Begona loved people who were brave, so despite having only previously run a half marathon (and sworn I would never, ever do a marathon, because quite frankly, who on earth would willingly run 26.2 miles!) I promised my dear friend I would run London for her and raise lots of money in her memory.
On 12th March 2021, our lovely friends and neighbours, Paul and Mary, suddenly and tragically lost their precious, beautiful daughter, Neve. She suffered a very rare and catastrophic brain aneurysm. Neve was only 11 years of age, but she put more fun, laughter, energy and sassiness into those 11 years, than most do in an entire life time! The support, Mary, Paul and her brother Lewis received from Helen & Douglas House was truely invaluable and nothing short of amazing, providing them with unique support and comfort at such a devastating time.
Running for Helen & Douglas House, is the perfect way for myself and Vicky to give something back for Begona, Neve, their families and friends.
If you can spare a few pounds, to help support this wonderful charity, we would be so grateful. We promise to train hard and keep smiling! If you see us pounding the countryside around Harwell, please give us a wave! We normally have our black Labradors leading the way! Money raised from our pages will go towards our combined team target of £5000.
