Story
Due to unforseen circumstances this fundraising trek has been placed on hold. All donations made to date have been paid directly to Parkinsons.
We are both so sorry to be in this position and really appreciate the support we have received and all donations made. As soon as we are able to work towards this again in the future, we will of course let you know. Please contact Clare, Karen or Parkinsons for further information, surrounding the reationale for this.
Thanks,
Clare and Karen x

Christmas Day Swim - Update
Swim done!!!! Karen's feet are only just thawed and it's nearly New Year. I think it's fair to say that she will have earned every penny of this sponsored event after braving the crystal clear waters of Porthcawl on Christmas Day. As can be seen from the photos, I was there supporting Karen, along with a few thousands others. The supporters are evident by their big coats, gloves and scarfs! It really was cold. WELL DONE Karen....

Christmas Day Swim
Yes, another sponsored event. This time it's Karen's turn and it is probably fair to say that she has a really difficult challenge ahead of her..... She's going to be on Porthcawl beach on Christmas day (along with the hundreds of other mad people) and is going to brave the WARM waters for the annual swim.
Photographic evidence will appear on this page after the event, so don't forget to check in again soon after Christmas day. If you can't wait until then, you can join in the fun by turning up outside the Hi-tide in Porthcawl from about 11.15 a.m. We will be easy to spot, with our blue Parkinsons collection tins, if you are feeling generous!

Training Update 2
We thought it about time that we provide another update on how the training is going, or your going to think it's not happening at all. Technically that is true for the moment as we have decided to take a couple of weeks of up until Christmas. Prior to this little break though, we managed to surprise ourselves when we found we are able to get to the top of Pen-y-fan and still breathe. In fact, we both thought we might even be able to go further and amazed ourselves. The reward of the mini mars bar kindly provided by a fellow trecker, Sean did help retain our focus, I might add.
We are looking forward to picking up again in the new years and also, loosing the weight we are bound to have picked up during the festivities. A huge Merry Christmas to all our supporters.
Training Update 1
Well we have started and yes, it is not pretty! Having conquered Pen y fan mountain as our first trek we really appreciate how unfit we are. We have now made a commitment to 'trek' every Sunday morning, leaving Bridgend at 8.30 (so about 9.30 in the Beacons). Anyone wanting to join us for moral support or to get fit themselves is very welcome, just email us via facebook/linkedin or clare.roach@yahoo.com or karenbunney@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Justgiving page. Karen and I have been talking about doing something like this for some time now and we are probably as surprised as you that we have actually signed up for this mamouth treck! It's going to take some 'real' training if we are to have a chance of making it in one piece and some even more serious fundraising. At the moment the target seems impossible but we hope all our friends and supporters will dig deep to help us support Parkinsons. Although most people are aware of Parkinsons not many realise just how worthwhile a charity it is and how many people it helps.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please don't delay - donate today. Thanks You!
Silent Sunday 2
It has been one very, very long day so far and it's still not over. Something tells me I may have an early night tonight. What has been surprising and quite funny is how much my husband and family have struggled with me not talking. They didn't even get any relief when Ali turned up earlier. Like me, you can usually rely on her to fill the silence but not today as she's also doing the Silent Sunday! I shall be reminding my nearest and dearest, how much they hade me being silent next time they are moaning at my 'bipping!' Almost there so fingers crossed, I'll make it till the end.
Silent Sunday 1
Oh dear, how did this happen? It seemed like such a good idea at the time but now it's only next week I'm having second thoughts. I'm sure Ali is feeling the same but we are both determined to achieve it. We are going to do this despite the plans our families are organising in the knowledge that we won't be able to object on the day! Anyway, it's only not talking for ONE WHOLE DAY - how hard can it be....
