Story
My beautiful daughter, Alice, was stillborn in Manchester in 2016. I don't live in Manchester anymore but a piece of my heart will always be there, which is why I've decided to take on the Manchester Marathon in her memory. The marathon falls on the anniversary of Alice’s funeral and during Baby Loss Awareness Week so feels like the right challenge for me.
Alice would be 5 and I miss her every single day, I would do anything to have her with me, but that's not an option so I'm running instead. Over the years, I've learnt that grief is the ultimate test of endurance so I should be well prepared for a marathon!
I am running to raise money for Sands because I've seen first hand what a difference the small but passionate team makes to the lives of families. The work Sands does to care for families, support healthcare staff and influence change really does save lives. I honestly don't know where I would be without them, they are incredible.
When Alice died I promised to live life to the full, because she didn't get chance to live hers, so this one is for her!
