With a total of 14,000 feet to climb and a 1,900 mile drive to complete all within 48 hours, Ryan, Vicky, Simon and I will be having a tough time.  

We hope to raise more than £4,000 for Wooden Spoon, which is an ambitious target for such a short period of time but one that will help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK and Ireland.

In the UK, one per cent of children have to live with and overcome lifelong disability and more than 3.5 million young people grow up in low income households or are subjected to poverty of aspiration.

We all should recognise the value of education and opportunity. Giving up a weekend to help others is not that great a sacrifice and we will all benefit personally from the rise in fitness levels. 

With that in mind we are off to the Brecon Beacons for some training during May, and working hard at the gym and walking the dog!
