Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2019 I ran my first ever London marathon more to the point i ran for the first time since leaving school several years ago. I obviously enjoyed the experience because i ran the virtual marathon in 2020 and i'm doing the London marathon in London Covid permitting over again in 2021!!
I've chosen to run again because there are not many things worse than being told your child has cancer. That's exactly what happened to me back in 1990 when my son was just 3 years old.
I've set an odd target for this year as this total combined with what I have already raised equates to £11 for each of the 1419 days Adam shared with us.
Adam was diagnosed with a brain tumour. My world fell apart there and then. Over the coming months Adam endured chemotherapy and 35 general anesthetics as well as radiotherapy. Throughout his treatment we were supported by those around us but also by the Malcom Sargent charity -Now CLIC Sargent. The support we received from them stopped us having to worry about the day to day practicalities of life whilst caring for a seriously ill child.
Sadly Adam lost his battle on the 21st September 1990 just 9 months after his diagnosis.
It's 30 years since i lost him and the memories of him and all he went through whilst still remaining a happy chap stay with me, as does the kindness of those at CLIC Sargent.
CLIC Sargent help families keep going whilst going through one of the worst experiences any family will face. I hope my efforts will go some way to helping them continue their fantastic work
