Story
Hello!!
I have decided to dust of the trainers and challenge myself to a 13.1 mil run on the 26th of September 2010 to raise money for Brain Tumour Research. 16,000 people are diagnosed each year with brain tumours and they kill more people under than 40 years than any other cancer. Unfortunately, brain tumour research is hugely underfunded even though just 12% of males and 15% of females survive beyond 5 years compared to 50% of all cancers (Brain Tumour Research, 2010).
My sister Kerry was first diagnosed at the age of 22 of having a malignant brain tumour which marked the start of a long fight with this terrible disease. Unfortunately, on the 24th March 2005, surrounded by her family and the amazing carers from the Bethesda Hospice, Kerry passed away. Those that knew and supported Kerry throughout difficult times know that she ran a daily marathon and more in her fight with this disease. She never perceived herself as a victim and was and still is the most courageous person I have known. Please help me to raise money for Brain Tumour Research by donating money through Just Giving, no matter how small as every penny counts. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.Clare
