Story
In February 2015 Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was told he had an aggressive strain which was terminal. He was incredibly strong and seldom complained. He underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which was successful for a short while but eventually the cancer was too strong. As time passed he began to become weaker. In July of this year he was unsteady on his legs and he started falling. We were told his cancer had spread to his spine, brain and kidney. My Mam cared for him day and night. As his disease progressed he was unable to sit up in bed. His magnesium levels dropped, so he was taken into the Freeman on the 12th October. He never returned home. Dad was transferred to the Marie Curie Hospice, half the man he once was. It was the hardest thing I have ever been through watching him turn to mere skin and bone. Sadly, the cancer won the battle and Dad died on 1st November. I know now he is at peace and healthy again in heaven, God rest his soul. All the staff in the Marie Curie Hospice, Newcastle were amazing over the last few weeks of my Dads' life. They were all very supportive not only to Dad, but all of my family. I want to walk Snowdon to raise funds by way of a thank you, because I just can't thank them enough. It's so important that their work continues in order to help more people like us. Please give generously. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
