Story
When Albert was born in February 2015 he was extremely poorly and had to spend two weeks being cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol. It was a scary time and we were reliant on the knowledge and expertise of an outstanding team of specialists who ultimately saved our little boy.
Throughout, Mark and I were fortunate enough to be able to stay in the Cots for Tots house just over the road from the hospital so that we could get some much needed rest in between spending as much time as possible at Bert's bedside.
He fought hard and made tremendous progress, and we were soon able to take him home, where the mission to pile on the pounds began in earnest. We've just celebrated Bert's second birthday and he is as naughty, vocal, hilarious and argumentative as any toddler - we are among the lucky ones.
Some of you will know that Mark undertook a truly epic challenge back in October to raise money for the same charity and, while this may seem pretty lightweight in comparison (and I will never be able to claim the status of "triple marathon man"), it's a big challenge for me.
Cots for Tots work tirelessly to support families like us with sick and premature babies, and every penny we raise will ensure that more babies like Bert go on to live full and happy lives. It's a cause that's incredibly close to our hearts so please give generously if you can, and I promise to run like the wind.
Thank you.
