I am raising money for The Wellspring Stockport a local charity which runs a resource centre for homeless and disadvantaged people. 

The Wellspring is open 365 days a year and on average supports 300 people per year off the streets and into accommodation.  They provide practical support whilst someone is street homeless with hot showers, clean clothes, food, sleeping bags and rucksacks. Once the Wellspring have assisted someone back into housing furniture and ongoing tenancy support is provided.

To date the project has supported over 1500 people off the street and into accommodation. The charity also supports individuals with drug and alcohol addiction, domestic violence, mental health problems and out reach work and they have a nurse and GP based at the project. The Wellspring also provides employment support and educational training courses.

There are approximately 150 people per day using their services. The charity is not government or council funded. More information about the services provided and volunteering opportunities can be found at www.thewellspring.co.uk.
