Story
Back in February (2012) one my best friend's (Ali landreth's) 15yr old son (Rhys Jenner) was diagnosed with something called Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy, a degenerative disease that will gradually cause him to loose all of his central vision, thus leaving him (legally) blind by the time he is 20!
Unfortunately at the moment there is no cure for this disease.
Fight for sight are funding some very promising research in to a cure lead By Professor McClaren (Oxford university). As you can imagine the cost of this research runs into the millions so every penny raised counts!
Rhys is very sporty and is into mountain bike racing and is currently doing his own fundraising project, he has certainly not let his diagnosis get him down, even though it will mean, he will never be able to drive and will have certainly have to overcome alot of hurdles in his life.
As you can imagine this was a massive shock for everyone and to be honest I felt pretty helpless watching on as my friend and her family suffered, so I have decided to get off my butt and do something to help!!!
Call me mad, but I am going to run the Brighton Marathon......Yes thats right, a full 26miles!!!! Well, if i'm completely honest I did'nt read it properly and thought I was entering a half Marathon, but hey ho whats another 13miles. lol.
Those that know me, know what a massive challenge this will be for me (and not just the giving up the booze!)
As I said before, every penny counts, so please help me in raising money to find a cure for this horrible disease.
