Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you will know, my dad sadly lost his battle to cancer in February 2018. Before he passed, I’d agreed to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money to help find a cure for cancer. Together, we decided that Kidney Cancer UK was the most appropriate, having already had his kidney removed in 2010 to continue his fight for another 8 years.
A secondary tumour then appeared on his windpipe in 2013. From that point onwards he was on a daily chemo drug which took its toll on him. Despite that, he continued daily life with courage, determined to spend as much time as possible with Mum, Alison and myself, as well as his 2 precious grandchildren who were his world. Without a doubt, it was their cheery presence and love for their grandad that kept that fight within him for so long.
My dad was my absolute hero and life sadly goes on with those nearest and dearest left struggling every day. I am not only doing this run in memory of my brave, strong, fighter of a dad, but also for all those who have lost their battles far too soon. Together, we can help find a cure.
