Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As anyone who was lucky enough to meet Andy will know, he is one of the last people I thought I would be running in memory of. Young (ish!) vital, fit & surrounded by family & friends.
First time I met him, he had just returned from a bike ride, & not really knowing who I was greeted me with ‘you want the posh coffee don’t you, not the normal one’ this one sentence portrays everything I thought of Andy, straightforward, & living a good life, with decent coffee!!
This is the thing about cancer, it’s been on one to many equality & diversity courses and will not discriminate against any of us.
Unfortunately I am far to personally aware of the wonderful treatment the Christie provides. I have 3 friends currently receiving treatment there, for melanoma, ovarian & bowel cancer. My Auntie who is sadly no longer with us received great treatment there & now my Dad, the older version of Andy (cycling crazy) is having treatment for terminal cancer. I share this not for a pity party but to expose how nasty & cruel cancer is, cancer does not discriminate and whilst we can help lower the risk of some forms of cancer we are limited.
I hope one day, not even to be as adventurous as to wish for a cure being found, but at least treatment keeps developing that helps prolong life but also a better quality of life whilst in treatment.
Hopefully you have read to the end, if so do one last thing; if you can give blood, register on the stem cells list and be body aware. Don’t put off any tests offered. I’m very angry with cancer right now for all it’s putting my friends & family through, lets fight it
