I am running the Manchester 10k in 2023 to raise money for Diabetes UK. Undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes can be life threatening so awareness and knowing the signs are really important. 

Type 1 diabetes is unrelated to diet or lifestyle and happens when your body attacks the cells in your pancreas meaning you can’t produce insulin

In November 2021 our son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and taken to Wythenshawe hospital. He was very poorly, had lost a lot of weight, was exhausted and had blurred vision. We spent a week in hospital not only getting Alex’s levels into range but learning how we would have to live with this diagnosis. The paediatric team were amazing in the support they gave us that week and continue to give us today 💉💊🩺

Alex is now 13 and has adapted to his life long condition with such maturity and determination and we are so so proud of him, even more so on the most challenging days.  There is no longer a normal day or night for us. I want to give something back and am looking to raise as much as I can to fund research and one day find a cure.

Diabetes UK raises money to promote awareness and funds pioneering research into life changing technology that can make this disease more manageable. Diabetes can affect anyone of any age at anytime. Please donate if you can x
