Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
Our loving dad, Cliff, (Popsy to his Grandchildren) was diagnosed with cancer in March 2011 and sadly passed away at the Princess Alice Hospice on 9 May 2011; poignantly this was his and Mum’s 41st Wedding Anniversary.
During his final few weeks, the Princess Alice Hospice could not have done more for Dad and his family and friends. Dad used to joke that he was seen so often by doctors and nurses that they must have liked his room, he enjoyed that it was like a party with the constant stream of family and friends being able to visit. It was a refreshing change for us that he was cared for so well by everyone at the Hospice - doctors, nurses, the catering team, physiotherapists etc. It was the extra simple things that made a real difference, such as the children being given books appropriate for their ages that explained death of a loved one in a way they could understand.
The Princess Alice Hospice looked after our Dad so well in difficult circumstances and we are so grateful to them for making his last days as comfortable as possible, and making our memories with him the last few weeks as fun and as magical as they could be. We want to be able to give something back to the Princess Alice Hospice and help them continue to provide their expert support to patients, families and friends that sadly have to go through what we did.
However big or small please make time to give to the Princess Alice Hospice and we will run our hearts out in Santa clothes on 29th November 2015 in Bushey Park at 10:30 am. Thank you for your on-going support, Clare & Family & Friends xxx
