Last year, some of us took part in Impact's Malawi Marathon - we loved it and wanted to try their even more intense Guatemalan Marathon UP AND DOWN AN ACTIVE VOLCANO.... with a casual 2000m elevation. 

We will spend the preceding week with the below awesome local charities - and we will push ourselves complete this in aid of these inspiring charities:

SERES and Caras Alegres - they are focussed on engaging the youth of the nation, to generate long term systemic change in the prospects of Guatemela's youth. . 

SERES works with young communities to help mentor them into leaders that will hopefully one day implement the systemic change that this country requires. They work across indigenous groups and across genders to help all those children/young adults that have a desire to be the change they want to see in the world. 

The Caras Alegras team work with a small community neighbouring a prison. The community has chosen to live here to be close to their family who are incarcerated within the prison walls. Caras Alegres provides a powerful support network to ensure these kids stay off the street and develop important life skills whilst being fed and looked after. In this way they work to keep these children away from the prevalent gang culture in Guatemala.
