Story
Hello everyone and thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am not going to tell you why you should donate to beat cancer, because you already know that. Instead, I am going to tell you why you should donate to me because of the event I am doing:
1) I am a swimming teacher practically full time, if I didn't do a water-based fundraiser that would be a bit rubbish really, especially when I have so many floats and toys at my dispense.
2) Running 5km isn't easy, swimming it is a lot worse. Like, a lot worse. Like, in a 25m pool that is 200 lengths.
3) I am abysmal at maths and can't count. And like I said earlier, I am swimming 200 lengths.
4) My hair may turn green.
5) I will leave the pool after 200 lengths more shrivelled than a raisin, prune, your imagination can do the rest...
6) It's fun to watch me suffer.
7) The smell of chlorine will probably not leave my system for a good month or so, even with showers.
8) See numbers 2, 4 and 6.
9) I'm not that fit at all and may potentially drown.
10) Refer back to number 8.
Right, those are 10 reasons why what I am doing is stupid and why you should donate to fund this stupidity in aid of an excellent cause. If you scroll a little further you can see what these charities do and why they need your cash through my stupidity. Otherwise, any donation, no matter how big or small, is really appreciated. I will keep you up to date with training progress as well.
Until then, TTFN!
On the 27th - 29th March, over 21,000 swimmers will be heading down to over 600 pools across the UK to raise money for our two amazing charity partners.
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through funding research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Cancer Research UK are the only charity fighting over 200 cancer types but don't receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it most.
Together we can really make a difference. We invite our swimmers to tell their story to help spread awareness and raise vital funds for these two incredible causes.
