Story
Today I went for a training swim in the Brighton sea. It was sunny and flat, perfect conditions. BUT, the whole time I was in, I was worried about getting an ear infection or getting sick from swallowing just a bit of the water. Why? Because the local water company has dumped all the waste water from the recent rainfall straight into the sea. It's everywhere along the seafront, there have been so many videos on social media about it.
I don't want to see our marine life destroyed and our water quality compromised by companies who continue to dump waste water and sewage onto our beaches, into our seas and our rivers. The funds raised on my justgiving page from my challenge are for Surfers Against Sewage who work really hard to protect our seas, beaches and rivers.
I am 13 and I love swimming, especially in the sea! For me swimming the Helespont from Europe to Asia will be a tough swim. I need to finish it in an hour and a half before they re-open up one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. I am going to give it my best and in doing so I will be the youngest person to have completed this swim. I have been training in the sea and the pool to build up my fitness and my speed, I will be doing this swim without a wetsuit. I head to beautiful Turkey at the end of the month....
So if you love the sea and you love the rivers and you love to swim safely, or you just love me :-), please donate here on my justgiving page and if you want to further donate also visit Brighton Surf Life Saving Club website (see below) and I promise I will swim even harder to get to the other side.
Thank you. Clancy.
