Story
In October 2022 I ran my first marathon. Something I never thought would be possible!! Having failed to gain a place in the ballot I managed to get a virtual place. This was a tough challenge, running 26.2miles without the crowds, but my stubbornness and determination got me through. I constantly feel tired from a health condition, but when I put my mind to something I don’t give up - and despite the gruelling training and loosing many toenails along the way, it was the best experience!!!
So…I’m now incredibly excited to share that I have been awarded a charity place for the ACTUAL London marathon in April 2023!! Same distance, but a different challenge.
I’m delighted that I will be running for St Raphael’s Hospice in Cheam. This local hospice has a very special place in the hearts of me and my family, after they cared for my Grandad before he passed away. They have also looked after a number of close friends and their families over recent years. Being a local hospice so many friends have either known someone or had a family member spend some precious time there. Each year we join in the light up a life campaign and I’m blown away with how many families are there and have been affected in some way by the hospice. However, being a charity the hospice wouldn’t exist without its donations. This is why I am planning to raise as much money for St Raphael’s as I can so that they can continue to provide exceptional end of life care and support to patients and their loved ones.
So, here we go again! Let’s get the training plan back out and start my next challenge 😊
