Story
Hey there!
My name is Claire Mistretta! So nice to meet you! :)
I am from Georgia and studied social work with a minor in sociology and a certificate in global studies at the University of Georgia. I look forward to serving as a Case Manager at Mary’s House, the Refugee Single Mothers Program at Catholic Charities Diocese of Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio, and to being a part of the Merriman House.
God knew what He was doing when He placed in my path the people and experiences I needed to lead me to JVC. I always imagined I would do a year of service after graduating from college, but I looked far and wide for the right program for me. At an internship that I happened upon at Catholic Charities Atlanta, I met a JV serving there, which was the first time I heard about this program. JVC's commitment to its four values (spirituality, community, simple living, and social justice) sets it apart from every other program I have looked into, and these values are what led me to apply. I have been met with nothing but the utmost enthusiasm and support from JVC staff and current and former JVs throughout my application process, and this has already made me feel like there's a home for me in JVC. I look forward to exploring a new city, meeting new people, and being challenged to grow personally and professionally. I know God has amazing things in store for this year, and I cannot wait to see what that looks like.
Thank you for supporting my JVC journey! Your support means the world!
