Story
#claireschallenge was set up September 2017, just weeks after Claire was first diagnosed with both breast and cervical cancer aged 33. Claire was passionate about doing good, giving back and turning a negative situation into a positive one.
Claire asked friends, family and strangers to take on something new, try a new sport, bake a cake or do something crazy to help raise money for charity. Everyone rose to the challenge and raised over £27,000 from over 50 challenges for Macmillan and Cancer Research.
Claire and her sister Sarah also found out they were BRCA2 positive and they both decided to have preventative surgery to reduce their risk of cancer. Claire then went on to complete the London Marathon 2019 just 9 months after chemotherapy raising a further £11,000 for Macmillan. Claire's husband Ian and brother in law Richard raised a further £5000 for Cancer research.
So with over £20,000 already raised for Macmillan the fundraising continued with the plan of one challenge every year and an ultimate goal of £50,000! 2020 had other ideas but we still managed to raised over £3000 at the Macbrum Ball a week before lockdown! So, as we move into 2021 Claire will be taking on a challenge a month and will include climbing Mt Kilamanjaro and jumping out of a plane!
Join our team, take on a #claireschallenge and help us raise vital funds for Macmillan!
