Story
UK Youth
UK Youth is the UK’s no.1 Youth Charity, working with an open network of over 8000 youth organisations and nation partners. They influence as a sector-supporting infrastructure body, a direct delivery partner and a campaigner for social change.
UK Youth’s new 2025 strategy, “Unlocking Youth Work” outlines a bold ambition to impact young lives by unlocking youth work as a catalyst for change. We will work in partnership to build a cross-sector movement, creating a society that understands, champions, and delivers effective youth work for all.
For many young people their youth worker is the only person they openly talk to, and their youth organisation is the only safe space they have to be heard and to explore their character on their own terms.
Why I am running for UK Youth
The organisation I work for, National Citizen Service (NCS) works very closely with UK Youth, to support young people in many ways, and in recent years, working together as the leading organisations of the Hope Collective, a partnership set up in memory of Damilola Taylor. The Hope Collective has been set up to reimagine what a fairer society looks like for all young people and to identify key changes that need to be addressed. We have embarked on a piece of work called “Reimagined – A fairer society through the eyes of young people”. This will include running 21 hack events during 2022/23 bringing together young people from the most vulnerable communities, to give them a safe space and platform to voice their opinions and come up with innovative solutions to societal challenges that are the key cause of serious violence and discrimination.
Any donations will go directly to UK Youth and you can read more about their programmes and how they support young people on their website: https://www.ukyouth.org/
Thank you for reading this and if you would like to come along and support the half marathon is on Sunday 9th October.
