Story
IRONMAN UK 2009 Swim 2.5 miles, Bike 112 miles, Run 26.2 miles
I am an IRONMAN (or should that be Ironwoman??????) at last!!!! After 6 months of training involving 96 miles of swimming, 2700 miles of cycling and 200 miles of running and over 300 hours of blood, sweat and the odd tear, I made it to the startline of Ironman UK 2009. After heavy rain, the Ironman village was flooded and looked more like Glastonbury than Hawaii. We braved the mud and 16 hrs 09 mins later I reached the finishing line after the most amazing day of physical and mental battles. I would like to thank you all for your encouragement and support, it has helped to inspire me in moments of doubt and pain. I have had the most incredible team to help me through the training and the race itself and I am looking forward to buying as many of you as possible a very large drink! Now all that remains is to get the mud out of my kit and decide where to have my M dot tattoo!
Thank you all so much for helping Diabetes UK, it is a cause close to my heart and I know they appreciate your support.
Best wishes,
Claire X
