Claire's bike ride - London to Brighton

DIFC London to Brighton Cycle 2011 · 11 September 2011 ·
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know, I have now completed a couple of 5km runs to raise funds for Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity. This is a very worthwhile charity which is close to my heart; please read more about the charity below. To warrant your continued and kind support I will be taking on a new challenge, to cycle from London to Brighton (52 miles) on Sunday 11th September.
Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity wishes to increase awareness of thrombosis among the public and health professionals and to raise research funds to improve patient care through improved prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease.
Over 25,000 patients in England die each year from thrombosis; this is more than the combined total of deaths from breast cancer, AIDS and traffic accidents, and more than twenty-five times the number who die from MRSA. It is a leading cause of death in the UK and when found in time can be treated as easily as with medication; but even better can be prevented with the help of doctors, hospital staff and public awareness. The charity only formed in 2003 (it is the main charity for thrombosis in the UK), so there is much more research and education that can be done to save the lives of many loved ones. Please donate whatever you can.
