Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Story
Hi, my name is Claire Woodbridge and I'm 18 years old. Thankyou for taking the time to visit my JustGiving fundraising page! I have decided to take part in a Brutal 10 run with one of my closest friends, Emily, to raise money for Macmillan in memory of my amazing Dad. For those of you who don't know what Brutal 10 is, it's a 10km race that involves running through mud, water, up steep hills, over obstacles and much more!
I have decided to raise money for Macmillan as it is a charity very close to my heart. At the beginning of 2014, I discovered that my Dad had lymphoma, a type of cancer. After being diagnosed with the cancer, he had two courses of chemotherapy treatment but unfortunately these were unsuccessful and after a long and hard battle with cancer, my Dad passed away on the 9th November. Throughout his battle with cancer, the support he and our family received from Macmillan was outstanding. There was always someone to speak to and reassure us if we were worried about anything, and all the nurses we met were absolutely lovely. As well as this, once my Dad had stopped his chemotherapy treatment, Macmillan also made it possible for us to go on a family holiday to Bournemouth, something we did not think would ever be possible. This was something my Dad really wanted to do even though he wasn't well, and this was actually the last holiday we had with him, but Macmillan made it a holiday to remember!
After losing my Dad to cancer, Macmillan have continued to be a great support and with the money we raise, they can go on to support thousands of other people facing cancer and ensure that no one has to face it alone. I know how difficult it is to lose someone to cancer, and would really like to give something back to a charity that did so much to make my Dad's battle with it that little bit easier. Even the smallest donation will really help so please dig deep and donate as much as you can.
