Story
We would like to raise awareness of Talipes/Clubfoot as our little girl Elodie was born with bilateral Talipes (see photo of when she was a few days old). Her feet are now so straight, she still has to wear a brace at night (boots and bar) until she is 5. We are just over the half way mark. It has been an inspirational journey so far and at times very tough. She had to have 13 weeks of being in plaster cast from just a couple of weeks old. She suffered from rubs and sores on her feet, difficulty sleeping and bathing. Then she moved into wearing a brace for 23 hours a day for 3 months. This was probably the hardest time for us as everything became tricky, breastfeeding was interesting and just those simple things of hugging her and bathing her without her brace on was so special.
There are many children who suffer from all sorts of lower limb problems and often you would never know, parents don't always volunteer to talk about it.
STEPS charity have been there for us along the way and a great network of other families to talk to.
Today (3/6/20) is World Clubfoot Day so a good time to share!
Please have a go at walking a mile a day with us for the month of June or try 1000 foot challenge if you prefer.
