Story
Burn injuries are a major problem in Tanzania and one of the most frequent causes of death for children in East Africa. Northumbria Healthcare are raising money for an educational program where surgeons and nurses from Tanzania can be educated and trained in modern burn management. I have been lucky enough to be involved in this educational programme having visited in 2012 and am due to return in June 2013. The visit will involve working on the burns ward, teaching members of the multidisciplinary team and visiting schools to teach burns first aid and prevention. I hope to raise at least £150 to help with this fantastic cause. As little as £1 can help provide vital medicines and dressings to a child in hospital with a burn injury.
