The photograph shows our daughter Darcey, born 8 days late. Despite her late arrival, she still needed help from both Salisbury and Southampton's neonatal teams. After 18 days in these hospitals, she was able to come home with us.

Despite the stressful start, we were well supported by Salisbury NICU staff, who made Darcey's stay as easy as possible.

In order to help Salisbury Hospital build a new NICU, with family accomodation and new equipment; as a family, we are walking the Stars Appeal's 'Walk for Wards'. Although we have come through the NICU experience, there are, and will be more that will have to take a similar journey. In order to make this as stress-free as possible, we want to help families to be able to stay together in accommodation with their new baby - to prevent parents having to make the upsetting goodbye each day, of leaving their babies in hospital when they are only days old.
