Story
Radio Lollipop is a charity that's very dear to me. I've been volunteering each week with Radio Lollipop for over 12 years in Starship Hospital (Auckland) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (London). My role as a volunteer is to play with and entertain sick children, offering them a brief respite from the pain and boredom of being in hospital. I've had the pleasure of meeting so many resilient, brave children and their families.
I've entered my first half marathon (the Vancouver Half Marathon) in May and I'm pretty scared about it... The farthest I've ever run is 10km and although I've been running regularly for about 5 years now, I'm still a very reluctant runner and find it extremely difficult. I have a 16-week training plan in place, and my end goal is to simply be able to run the full 21km without stopping. :)
Raising money for Radio Lollipop will certainly sweeten the deal and make the early mornings and long runs worthwhile. As an organisation, Radio Lollipop has relatively few overheads, especially since it's completely run by volunteers. The majority of your money will go towards purchasing games, prizes and craft supplies for the kids, keeping our radio equipment running smoothly. You'll also be helping to open a brand new Radio Lollipop station at Portland Hospital.
I really appreciate your support.
Thank you!
Claire
