Story

Hello! Welcome to my LBDI 2020 Appeal fundraising page.

LBDI stands for the Little Black Dress Initiative - a week-long, social media-driven fundraising campaign that has historically used the iconic Little Black Dress to raise awareness about poverty and its effects on women in society. It was launched in 2014 by the Junior League of London (JLL) and has expanded as an area of community impact for Junior Leagues across North America.

The Covid-19 crisis has brought many changes and challenges to so many of us, and the reality is that poverty in London is growing, with many of those we serve greatly impacted by the effects of this global pandemic. According to the United Nations University, ‘global poverty could increase for the first time since 1990 and adverse impacts could result in poverty levels similar to those recorded 30 years ago’.

As a Board member of the JLL, I am proud to be raising funds toward this charity appeal. For 5 days, I will join other JLL members by wearing a black dress or outfit as a symbol of solidarity in times of crisis; in recognition of all that London’s volunteers & essential workers are doing; and to raise funds for those working with London’s most vulnerable.

In what is a hugely uncertain time for you, your families and business, we are incredibly grateful for anything, big or small that you can give.

Let’s connect, Let’s look after each other, Let’s make a difference.

Thank you.
