Story
As many people already know my energetic & fun Loving Dad sadly passed away on 21st January 2019. He was only 66 years young and had many more years left in him but sadly his lungs decided otherwise.
A non smoker for most of his life and apart from his love of all things boozy he was otherwise fit, healthy and had an active job as a builder.
Unbeknown to the family he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and passed away only 18 months after diagnosis.
Pulmonary Fibrosis is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. The thickened, stiff tissue makes it more difficult for your lungs to work properly. As Pulmonary Fibrosis worsens, you become progressively more short of breath.
Watching someone you love struggle to breathe is one of the hardest things I’ve had to witness. But even in my Dads final days he was still cracking jokes and laughing that infectious laugh of his.
I am feeling very privileged to be able to run The London Marathon 2021 for Team Breathe. I’m going to try my damn hardest to raise as much money and awareness so that one day there may be a cure for Lung Disease.
Thankyou for taking the time to read my story! Any donations big or small are really very much appreciated.
I hope you are breathing easy now Dad and we all love and miss you 😘
1 in 5 people in the UK has a lung condition. That means 10,000 new diagnoses per week.I'm running the London Marathon for the British Lung Foundation, the only UK charity looking after the nation's lungs. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world without lung disease.Just £8 allows one of the BLF's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering support to someone in need. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
