Story
President Judith has chosen Hospice at Home West Cumbria as one of her local charities for her year of office.
Hospice at Home West Cumbria provides home care for people who are dying.
This service is very important to our community as in this area we are reliant on overstretched NHS Cancer Care Nurses (no Mcmillan or Marie Curie nurses) & will still be needed as much as ever despite the current Corona virus emergency.
Soroptimists International are a service organisation who are dedicated to improving the lives and status of women and girls around the world. But we also care deeply about our local communities.
We are taking this opportunity to fundraise at a time when fundraising is difficult for all charities and also taking the opportunity to work together whilst social distancing.
We have a number of pledges so far of activities associated with the numbers 2 and 6, including a 2.6 minutes dance session between a family separated by 2600km, a hula hoop challenge and varying walking /running distances. I'll add new challenges and updates as we go throught the next few days.
