Story
A few of us at Pure decided it would be a good idea to tackle the National 3 peaks Challenge - a bit nuts I know, but who wouldn't like walking up and down 3 mountains in 24 hours?!?! We are all fired up and very excited about it! Training is a challenge in itself and we've all ventured to corners of East Anglia we never knew existed in the process.
The challenge will be to trek up and down Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowden in 24 hours - I know, sounds easy does't it?!
Whilst attempting this somewhat daunting challenge, it seems only right to raise money for some very good causes at the same time. We have selected 2 charities for the Pure Team to support, one of which being Lifeblood. This is very personal to me as I lost a very dear friend in June 2014 to a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). Caroline was 35 years old, healthy, hard working and a happy person with a loving family and lots of very good friends. Other than an undiagnosed pain in her leg, there were no other signs of what was happening. She passed away very suddenly, leaving all her family and friends shocked and in grief. Many of us still haven't come to terms with this tragic loss but if we can help this charity raise awareness and support their research to stop this happening to more people, perhaps a small positive can come from such sadness.
A bit about the charity...
Lifeblood, The Thrombosis Charity was founded in 2002, and became a registered charity in 2003. Their aim is to pursue the advancement of medical science in relation to the diagnosis, causes, prevention, alleviation, management and cure of thrombosis and provide financial support for thrombosis research in the United Kingdom.
Every little helps, so if you are able to support myself, Caroline, Kelly, Gabby, Lynn, Nella, Paul and Jade from Pure Resourcing Solutions to take on this challenge, we would be most grateful, thank you.
