Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping me raise over £1000 for Willen Hospice so other people can have the wonderful care my mother received.

I have done it!!! We  completed the Inca challenge. It was tough but a really wonderful experience.

I walked the Inca Trail to the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu with 3 friends in a group of 10 women. What a bunch!!

We scrambled and huffed and puffed our way in the rain and sun, over the slow, steep 25 miles and 13,776 feet mountain climb.

It was below zero at night and there is very little oxygen so the porters were great as they carried our heavy packs, food and  and tents to the next camp site.

We spent 4 days trekking in the mountains surrounded by fantastic views. We had some laughs and some time to reflect our thoughts.

I have some wonderful memories of Peru......

The many hours travelling by coach looking at the passing countryside - Tuk-tuk bikes and the boat journey to visit the floating village on Lake Titikaka and then stay with Papa and his family overnight in their tiny house. The cute children wearing traditional clothing. The puppies, pigs and Lamas.

The highlight was the incredible Inca Trail trek and Machu Picchu city - those images will be with me for a long time.

I have lots of photos if you would like to see them when you visit me or on the Justgiving web site.

Thank you very much. Claire x

I wanted to do a challenge in memory of my mother Angela who past away after her battle with cancer.

I decided that the Inca Trail was the challenge for me! - It will be below zero at night and there is very little oxygen for the 25 miles and 13,776 feet mountain climb. It will be worth it just to see the fantastic views and the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu.

It is now only a few weeks before 1st October when I set off for Peru with my three friends. We will find out about each other's bad habits as well as having a great experience together.

Willen Hospice is where my mother spent her last few weeks. The careers were fantastic and she was made to feel special at such a difficult time.

This care is given free and only a quarter of costs are met through the NHS. The Hospice needs to raise more than £3 million a year  (£360 provides care for a patient for one day).

This is why I wanted to help Willen Hospice and so have chosen them as my charity.

Please help me raise money so other people can have the wonderful care my mother received.
