Story
This year myself, family and friends sadly lost a great Dad, Husband, Son, Brother and mate, and throughout this trying time Woking and Sam Beare Hospices have provided us with care, advice and support, and made the terrible situation that bit more bearable.
My Dad, Wayne, was diagnosed with kidney cancer at the end of 2011, which came as a massive shock to us. Whilst we were all overwhelmed with the situation, he took the news with such grace and acceptance. Wayne had stays in both Woking and Sam Beare Hospices, where he was looked after well, with dignity and care. The hospices also helped us to get him home for a while, and gave us lots of advice, organised equipment, care and appointments at home. During his illness the hopsice team also gave myself and my Mum lots of support with all the extra things that came along with it, and since his passing have been giving us support coping with this bereavment.
I wanted to give something back to the hospices, so they can continue to support others, which is why I am doing the Pedal4Charity cycle ride. It is a 23 mile on and off road cycle from Horsell, through Thorpe, then back to Horsell. Whilst I enjoy cycling, I have never cycled this far, so it will be a bit of a challenge!
