Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The MdS is a 250k five stage ultra-marathon split over six days across the Sahara desert. Starting on 6 April, we will cover 30-40k on each of our first 3 days and 75k on day 4 (the “long day”). Day 5 will be a “rest day” and day 6 a marathon (42.2k). The clock stops at the end of day 6 but there is a short charity stage to complete on day 7 before self-sufficiency ends and we can hang up our trainers.
Miles have been covered with crazy Olswang colleagues, great London Heathsiders and even my little nephews have joined in. Gaiters are velcroed to trainers, heat chamber sessions are planned, gels, granola and dehydrated meals are at the ready.
One last piece of the jigsaw remains outstanding and that is to raise money for Mencap. Mencap works with people with a learning disability, their families and carers and is a charity which is close to my heart as my younger sister has learning disabilities. Combining something I love to do with raising money to support people with learning disabilities will make each foot fall worthwhile and hopefully see me through when the temperatures rise and the going gets tough.
Thank you for all the support so far and if you can please do support Mencap. If you would like follow my progress daily results (from 6 April) will be on www.marathondessables.com and you can even send me messages from there using my name and number (820).
