I'm running this half marathon in aid of Plan UK's "Because I am a Girl" campaign.  This campaign aims to support four million girls to stay in education and fulfil their potential, thereby helping to transform their lives and those of their communities.  If you get the chance to see the film "Girl Rising" I recommend it (www.girlrising.com).  It tells the stories of nine girls in nine different countries and their desire to go to school despite lives blighted by poverty, prejudice and/or violence. It also eloquently illustrates the economic benefits of girls' education.
