Story
3rd time lucky:
2021 - my team has shrunk to just me, I wasn't going to say no to a challenge, and boy was it a challenge (especiaslly after the final pit stop at mile 17....and the scree downward hill around mile 21, ooft)!!! The weather was amazing and the energy from all of the walkers was eneough to power anyone through the 26 miles. The scenery was also second to none!! Though I made a rooky mistake and changed my shows at mile 17 that lead to a painful blister I made it across the finish line in just over 9 hours (that time includes 3 stops - 2x tea/pit stops and a lunch stop).
Take 2:
2020 - unfortunately the event was postponed again, but this time due to Covid
First Try:
2019 - Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions (the place was flooded, we would have needed a boat!!) The Rob Roy Challenge was cancelled last year, so like the good troopers that we are we signed up for the 2020 challenge to raise money for McMillian Cancer Support, a worthy organisation who offer invaluable support to those touched by cancer; they are always on hand to answer questions and offer a kind ear whenever required.
Cancer affects so many of us, which is scary, so to have a friendly voice on the phone or in a centre to talk things through can be the helping hand someone needs to feel a little calmer, which can give them hope and meaning to keep fighting.
So we are back to training for this challenge and would appreciate it if you could spare some pennies and sponsor us and this great charity, words of wisdom also appreciated too
Thank you xx
