Bethesda provides 4 hospice beds for specialist palliative care and 30 long-term care home beds. It is required to raise over £470,000 per year to keep the hospice open and offers a much needed and caring service to those who are terminally ill and those who require nursing care.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I decided last November to set myself a personal challenge for 2017: to run a marathon.  Recently, I decided that training is going well (barring injury) and so completing the distance mightn't be out with the realms of possibility!  Now, I've made the decision to raise funds for Bethesda.  This hospice, in Stornoway, Lewis, provides an invaluable service to those needing palliative care and also serves as a care home.  I can't convey in words how crucial such places are, not only for the residents but to their families, friends and the wider community.  Hence, I would be extremely grateful for any donations - it might help motivate me when I inevitably hit that 'wall'...

Yes, I have personal reasons for choosing this charity, as do many more from Lewis.  I want to do this for these folk and their loved ones.
