Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This morning my GNR40 run number and chip arrived in the post!
The 40th GNR is on ....with some COVID safe related changes. My immediate reaction was one of panic and negative thoughts began to spiral....
I haven’t trained enough.
I’m too old and tired.
I won’t be able to run the 13 miles.
It’s a different course.
It’s a different start time.
It doesn’t finish at Southshields.
And so on....
So I sat myself down with a mug of coffee, a chocolate ginger biscuit and a giant Toblerone and turned the negatives into positives ....
How lucky am I to have a place in the 40th GNR!
I’m lucky that I’m able to run/jog at 62 years old!
The different route will be interesting and I’ll be crossing the Tyne Bridge twice.
The Red Arrows will be flying over at some time....always makes me cry!
It doesn’t matter if I run or walk - I’m doing it! And raising money for a great charity. The Leeds hospitals have cared for, and still care for Ali. All the staff continue to work with professionalism, compassion, care and grace in such challenging times and I can’t thank them enough. They picked Ali up and carried her through her treatment. Ali faced her treatments with a mixture of vulnerability, courage, determination and humour, and above all positivity.
The GNR day won’t be perfect, it will have its challenges. But I’m going to adopt Ali’s attitude..... I’m determined to make my GNR perfectly imperfect.
