Story
I am running 2 half marathons in one week for The Lily Foundation in memory of beautiful Aidan Pond.
Lucy was one of my closest friends at work and I was delighted to hear the news of the birth of her 2nd child in August 2012. Aidan was a happy and healthy baby boy but at 11 months old, he was diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease. Lucy and Simon's lives were turned upside down when they were told the disease was non-treatable and non-curable. Aidan was so brave and fought so hard but his muscles were failing him and he very sadly passed away at 19 months old on 1 March 2014.
I will never forget what Lucy, Simon and Evie went through. Their strength and courage throughout was amazing. Since losing their beautiful baby boy, Lucy and Simon have raised an incredible amount of money for charity and continue to support the Lily Foundation. I want to show my support to Lucy and Simon by running 2 half marathons in one week for the Lily Foundation in memory of Aidan.
The Lily Foundation support families of children with Mitochondrial disease and fund pioneering research into a cure for this debilitating life threatening disease.
The Lily Foundation was founded in Lily's memory, having lost her battle to Mitochondrial Disease at just eight months old. The charity aims to give hope, answers and support to the many other children and families that face the challenges of this disease today. Did you know every twenty minutes a child is born who will develop Mitochondrial Disease by the age of 16!
There is no cure for this disease which is for many, debilitating and life limiting. Please stand with us and fight Mitochondrial Disease and fight for hope.
Thanks in advance for your kind donations.
