Story
Thank you for visiting my page. You may already know by now that I am running the Great North Run this year for Diabetes UK.
I have chosen this charity as it is close to my heart as my Uncle Anthony has suffered with diabetes for the past 8 years. Before he was diagnosed with diabetes he was a keen runner and enjoyed going off on long walks.
Looking back my sister, brother and I used to grumble bucket loads when he took us out on those long "hikes" when we were kids. Now, I have to say, I wouldn't grumble! So I am doing this for him, as I know he'd love to be there with me, running it himself but unfortunately he now struggles terribly with his feet (due to nerve damage, one of his symptoms). It has been a long, tough and very emotional journey for him but one which has been made easier by the wonderful nurses who have looked after him and his very positive attitude.
This is for my Uncle, a special man who means the world to me and created many happy childhood memories for me, and also Diabetes UK, a fantastic charity who give amazing support to so many families.
I hope you can help me to help others, who have diabetes or are affected by diabetes, by sponsoring me to run the GNR.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
