Story
Back in 2013 we became pregnant with our second child and we were naturally over the moon! Unfortunately our first 12 week scan showed a big nuchal fold measurement which could of meant any number of possible problems...or perhaps none at all. Sadly as my pregnancy progressed the scans showed excess fluid building on our baby’s lungs and around his little body....he was beginning to get quite poorly. They couldn’t diagnose any particular problem with him, they didn’t even know if we would carry him to term, in fact they couldn’t predict what would happen at all, but we made it to 36 weeks and on the 3rd January 2014 our baby boy Jack was born.
Jack lived for around 3 hours, his lungs so compromised by all the fluid that despite the wonderful doctors best efforts he just wasn’t strong enough to stay with us.
Sands provided us with a beautiful keepsake box with a lock of his hair, hand and footprints, pictures and offered us support if we needed it. This has enabled us to keep precious memories of Jack and for that I am forever grateful.
So this is why I am supporting #challenge15 and aiming to run 15 miles (5 x 5k over 5 weeks!) and would love it if you could support me in this! £150 can provide 7 memory boxes to hospitals in need and give them to 7 bereaved parents.
I don’t usually do anything like this so it’s a bit of a first for me but this is so close to my heart I had to get involved! Thanks everyone in advance for your support!
