Story
I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2018, swimming the distance of the Channel over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire. Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a Spinal Cord Injury and Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently.
I last took part in this challenge in 2009 whilst on my summer holidays from Uni. Oh, how my life has changed in that time! This time it is going to be much more of a challenge for me. I'm older, fatter, not as fit and I don't have the luxury of time that I used to have, with a part-time job, 2 small children and generally trying (and failing!) at keeping up with housework etc! I have always enjoyed swimming, but have found that since having the boys I am much more sporadic and unfocused, and go through fits and starts with it, and generally don't stick to it for very long! By completing this challenge, I have to stick to it and keep going regularly to ensure that I complete the required lengths. I will also be raising money for a wonderful cause. This is a big challenge, but the more I raise, the more of a difference I'll make so please try and give something, even if it's £1 as every little bit helps.
