Story
I hated sport growing up and always thought I was really bad at it. I grew up overweight and unfit and it wasn't until my third daughter was born that I really began to take myself in hand and work on increasing fitness. I've been running seriously for just over a year now and have been pushing myself to increase distance and build both stamina and speed. I recently completed my first half-marathon distance so I know that this is achievable for me.
What I want for my children is for them not to grow up in the same bad habits that I did. I want them to grow up seeing fitness and sport as something enjoyable and relevant. I want to set them a good example and also to give them better access to sports.
My eldest two daughters' school - and the one that we hope our youngest will eventually attend - has recently built a huge, state-of-the art sports facility, but they are now looking to furnish it with equipment. They are looking, among other things, to buy cross trainers and rowing machines and other equipment for the fitness suite. Their fundraising campaign is not just about elite sport but about engaging every
student in healthy physical activity and championing healthy living to
the whole SJB community. The money they raise will help to improve the quality of provision in every sport they currently offer as well as
enabling them to introduce new sports to the curriculum such as:
Volleyball, table tennis, handball, climbing, tennis and hockey.
If you are able to sponsor me, money will go towards sports provision at SJB, helping many of our young people grow up fit and healthy and giving them good lifestyle habits for adulthood. Exercise can also help with mental health and to alleviate depression and stress, so very important in today's society. Please help to provide SJB with better sports equipment and help equip many children for a healthy and happy future.
