Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In early 2023 my cousin's lad, Jack, lost his almost lifelong battle with cancer at just 25.  Despite everything he went through he never let it stop him from following his dreams.  Despite losing his leg below the knee when he was 10, he was still determined to become a fisherman, just like his dad, and used to be lowered onto the boat in a fish box!  In 2017 he won the national award "Young Fisherman of the Year" and a "Coastal Hero" award the following year.  When he lost his entire leg at 20 and couldn't go on the boats anymore, he retrained as a forklift truck driver and worked on the harbour instead.

For years I've watched the London Marathon and thought how incredible it would be to do it, but that thought always went into the "too difficult" bucket.  But this year, Jack has inspired me.  And if I can raise some funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the same time then that's the icing on the (well-earned) cake.
