Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you know I decided to do a “Little” walk last summer (310 miles in 7 weeks) to raise money for the fantastic charity WAY – Widowed and Young… A charity close to my heart.
This year I decided to do something that can only be described as completely and utterly Bonkers!!!
So at the End of May – (7 weeks’ time!!!) - I am walking from London to Brighton – which is 62miles or 100km and will be doing this continuously over 24 hours with some other lovely members of WAY… so we will leave Richmond Saturday morning full of the joy of spring and then crawl into Brighton the following morning…
Hopefully with your help raising some money for WAY along the way!!!
WAY – is UK charity that offers a peer to peer support network for anyone who's lost a partner before their 51st birthday - married or not, with or without children and whatever their sexual orientation...
I have been a part of WAY for a few years now and it is a club that no one wants to be eligible to join but surprising and sadly there are a lot of us in it… It is a place that in the middle of the darkness is a welcoming light of hope, support, friendship and understanding that is truly unique. WAY helps young widows (like me) realise that whilst how they think and feel sometimes may seem alien to those closest to them it is actually normal.
Over the last year WAY has seen a lot of new members so anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated...
£2 pays for a WAY member to have access to the WAY support helpline providing 1:1 telephone advice and counselling (24hrs a day/365 days a year)
£5 pays for marketing materials to reach out to 100 young bereaved people who could benefit from joining WAY
£25 pays for a grieving person who cannot afford the membership to join WAY for a year
Looking back the last few years have been a huge roller coaster ride – not one I expected or wanted… But here I am - What the future brings who knows - hopefully lots of donations to WAY from you lovely people and no blisters 😉
Many Many thanks
Cheers
Claire
