Story
I and my family are running and walking for hope. A hope that my fun, energetic, outdoor-loving 7-year-old can lead a life full excitement and opportunity. One that isn’t hampered by his loss of sight, but helped by increased understanding, compassion and medical advances in the world around him.
It’s less than a year since Zac was diagnosed with a retinal dystrophy, an incurable, genetic, degenerative eye condition, and he’s already been registered blind. To look at him you wouldn’t know it. He’s still the same super friendly, happy-go-lucky boy who gets involved with everything and will chat with anyone. He will not be held back.
And it is with this desire for him never to be held back that I’m running the London Marathon and my parents and other family members are walking the Thames Path to raise money for @RetinaUK. All our aims are the same, to raise awareness of inherited eye conditions and the challenges faced by those living with a visual impairment.
Sight is something most of us take for granted but is something Zac no longer has. If you can, please donate to help @RetinaUK fund valuable research into inherited sight loss.
Thank you.
