Welcome to my fundraising page for CoppaFeel! This June I will set out on a challenging, extraordinary and life-changing trek, all in the name of checking chests! 

I will be taking on 100km of the rugged and unforgiving Hadrian's Wall Country over 5 days in a bid to raise funds towards CoppaFeel's life-saving mission. Coppafeel is a breast cancer charity, which is close to my heart, having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. 

I wasn't initially worried when I discovered a lump at the start of lockdown, but thought best get it checked. Luckily, I was offered an appointment for the breast clinic within a week. At the appointment, which I had to attend on my own due to Covid restrictions, I was told it was unlikely it was breast cancer, but had mammograms, an ultrasound and a biopsy. I was then informed that day, that yes, it was sadly breast cancer. Nothing prepares you for the absolute shock...there is a feeling of complete numbness, but then, well what needs to be done to get through this! The breast cancer team were fantastic, but it was extremely tough having to attend appointments, having an operation and radiotherapy on your own. Virtual groups to meet other people online who were going through their own breast cancer journey and share our experiences together, really was a life-saver during those times!

Coppafeel are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests and getting to know their bodies in order to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal.
