Story
In Summer 2023, I'm joining a team with 5 colleagues to swim the English Channel. The 6 of us will relay from the UK to France, covering a distance of around 22KM and averaging 12 - 18 hours.
Adding to the challenge, we'll be battling sea sickness (that's a long time to be in a small boat in the Channel) and fighting off the cold (no wetsuits allowed!). The criteria to qualify as an official Channel crossing are strict, so I'll be training hard from now until the summer.
As a team (the Moore Barlow Eagles), we're aiming to raise at least £10,500 for Aspire. Whilst its a team target, we've each set an individual goal of £1,750. Aspire is a charity supporting people who have been paralysed by spinal cord injury, most of which are now full time wheelchair users. At the assessment day for entry to the swim, we heard from an individual supported by the charity who was wheelchair bound as a result of a car accident - the charity really is life changing to those it supports and everything we raise will make a difference to someone's life.
Any donation, big or small, is appreciated to help me reach and exceed my donation goal.
